About the role:

This role will lead NEON’s work to strengthen the social movements working to defend and extend healthcare for all in Britain.  The post holder will work with the NHS leaders we’ve already bought together,  strengthening a formidable network of relationships with the most high-profile and effective champions of healthcare today. Meanwhile, the post holder will be developing strategies to ensure local campaigns to defend NHS services have an impact on national policy and systemic challenges. This will come to fruition in moments of national action that they’ll have identified and planned.

The NHS enjoys overwhelming levels of public support but has been undermined by decades of successive government policy. Now it stands to be further privatised and broken up, including as a part of a new post-Brexit trade deal with the United States. There has never been a more crucial time to maximise the power of those struggling to safeguard its future.

NEON has identified health as one of our major battlegrounds for taking action. We’ve learnt a lot through our collaboration and hosting relationship with Just Treatment, an exciting campaign which builds the leadership of NHS patients directly affected by high medicine prices to demand reform of the pharmaceutical industry.

Important: You don’t need to have worked on the NHS or health campaigns before to thrive in this position: it’s more important that you bring practical skills that will help grassroots leaders build an energetic mass movement.
