Press Officer Workshops

Starting in May 2024, NEON is launching a series of lunchtime webinars on doing excellent press work. This six-part series, delivered online in 1.5 hours sessions, will cover all the basics of doing press work and doing it well – from press releases and quotes to op-eds and broadcast media.

Who is this training for?

This training is for people with some experience in doing press work but who want to boost their skills and confidence. For example, this would be ideal for someone who’s recently started in their first press officer role, or a campaigner who does some press work as part of their role but isn’t an expert. If you’re the manager of a comms team, this training would be ideal for your newest team member.

How long is this training?

This training will run across six 1.5 hour sessions. Sessions will be held on the 23rd May, 30th May and 6th June, followed by a three week break, and then sessions on the 4th, 11th and 18th July. Participants are expected to attend all 6 sessions, with a minimum required attendance of 5 out of the 6 sessions.

Fees

This programme is free for grassroots and community organisations, and we operate a sliding scale fee for other organisations based on size and income.

  • Grassroots/Unpaid Organiser: Free (but a donation welcome if you have it)
  • Small Org (annual budget circa £100k): £150 + VAT
  • Medium Org (annual budget circa £500k): £300 + VAT
  • Large Org (annual budget circa £2m+): £600 + VAT
