Movement Strategy and Alignment

We do this by:

• Delivering multi-day trainings or half-day workshops for movement leaders using our tried and tested ‘Movement Builders’ content. This includes a powerful array of tools to help organisers understand what exactly a social movement is, map and understand the movements they are in (‘movement ecology’) and the stages they are at (‘movement life-cycle’) – while building movement awareness and appreciation, and laying a strong foundation for strategic planning and collaborative action.
• Working in partnership with organisations and coalitions to craft and deliver bespoke movement strategy and alignment workshops, tailoring our content and approach to meet their needs and the unique challenges of the political moment we are in.
• Developing new content and trainings on strategy, to be launched later this year. This will support movement leaders and organisations to better identify the problem they are trying to solve, understand different approaches to change and develop their theory of change, bring power analysis into their work, and balance strategic design with adaptability.

A brief history

This programme builds on the success of our Movement Buildings training programme. Since 2017, we have delivered almost 20 four-five day iterations of this training across the UK and with leaders from the climate, climate justice, migrant justice, new economy, housing and youth organising movements, and many more. In the last year we have been experimenting with a shorter two-day version of this training while designing new and complementary content which will form the basis of our movement strategy offer.
