We offer a range of spokesperson trainings to organisations, campaigners and others in the movement. These trainings have been distilled from the intensive multi-day training we offer to people coming on board the Spokesperson Network - and offer people a chance to develop the skills they need to navigate TV and radio interviews. To request a three hour or full day training for your organisation or group, please complete the Google form linked above.
- A basic intro to messaging and thinking about audiences.
- Teaching the 'back of the envelope' preparation technique for interviews (including steering interviews back to your key messages).
- At least one round of practice and feedback for each person using pre-prepared questions based on the articles submitted by the participants.
Key outcomes
- Increased confidence to take on broadcast media bookings.
- Basic understanding of media messaging and interview skills.
Who is this training for?
These trainings are suitable for grassroots groups, NGOs or other institutions who are looking to develop some basic broadcast capacity amongst their staff. We are actively selecting groups to work with on these trainings where we feel there is a real possibility that participants would actually be using the skills in order to take on broadcast bookings.
What does the programme involve?
We can work with you to suit your availability but offer sessions ranging from three hours to a full day.
The confidence building was really good - often as women with regional accents we feel out of place having news-worthy opinions and it's so important to challenge that narrative, starting with ourselves...everyone is sick of me telling them how good the training was!

Fees
This programme is free for grassroots and community organisations, and we operate a sliding scale price for other organisations based on size and income. We normally need around 4-6 weeks to organise a training.
