We offer a press officer 101 training to individuals working at non-profit organisations, campaigners and others in the movement. This training has been distilled from the intensive, multi-day Press Officer school. It offers a chance for people to develop the skills they need to navigate the world of news, pitching, and quote writing.

This training is most suited to grassroots campaigners or organisations who don’t have a dedicated press team and are looking to bring publicity to their campaign or action, whether on a voluntary basis or not.
It is also suitable for people in more entry level roles within press teams, or who are looking to broaden and develop the professional skills needed for a press role.
The training takes place online over 3 hours, with 2 short breaks.
“NEON’s press officer training really helped me understand the fundamentals of what makes a good press officer. There was a good mix of discussion and practical activities that helped to build my confidence. It was also insightful to hear from journalists themselves on what they’re looking for when it comes to pitching stories."
Please apply for the training through the google form linked above.
If you are looking to organise a training for a whole group of people please get in touch with rosie@neweconomyorganisers.org and enez@neweconomyorganisers.org to discuss the possibility of a dedicated training.
This programme is free for grassroots and community organisations, and we operate a sliding scale fee for other organisations based on size and income. These are the costs for individual participants:
We will open applications for the training a few times a year.
If you want a training for a group of people/ your organisation please contact us directly to arrange a training.
