A 2-day training for organisers in the North East working on economic justice - 1st & 2nd December 2026.
NEON is excited to host the latest version of our Transformative Organising programme this December for organisers and campaigners working towards economic, social and environmental justice in the North East. We know that when people come together, build strong relationships and organise collectively, we can win incredible things. But building that kind of power takes skill, strategy and practice. Whether you’re an experienced organiser or at the beginning of your journey, this training is a chance to sharpen your organising skills, build your confidence and develop the tools to win lasting change.
NEON is excited to bring together organisers and campaigners from across the North East for the latest version of our Transformative Organising training. Over two days, we’ll come together as organisers, reflect on the work we’re doing and up our organising game so we can win!
At a time when our communities are facing deep cuts, multiple injustices and the growing threat of the far right, we need powerful, organised communities more than ever. This training is a chance to build our organising toolkits and get ready for the fights ahead.
What is the Transformative Organising programme?
This two-day programme will give you the tools, techniques and confidence to develop as an organiser that can build a base with those at the sharp end of the crisis, create strategic, escalating campaigns and develop politically-conscious leaders.

Transformative Organising starts with the lived injustices people face and builds towards a collective vision for change, grounded in shared values and social justice. Through this approach, organisers build the capacity of communities not just to win campaigns, but to shift the balance of power in society and address the root causes of injustice.
In practice, this means building campaigns that don't just win improvements to our day-to-day lives, but bring new people into organising, develop new leaders who can build their confidence, skills and power to take action, and leave our communities better organised for the next fight.

Key outcomes
Who is this training for?
This training is for anyone in London who is organising or wants to organise in a transformative way to build long-term power to tackle injustice. That means you’ll be part of a group, organisation or community that has the potential to adopt this approach or develop it further. You may be an experienced organiser or just beginning to develop your skills.
We’re looking to recruit participants working towards economic, social and environmental justice, with particular attention given to those working on housing and migration issues, as these are key areas of focus for NEON. We will also prioritise places for those with direct experience of the issue they’re seeking to challenge, though this isn’t essential for applicants.

NEON training cohorts are made up of people who understand the importance of self and collective care in the work we do, and believe that building and sustaining a culture based on anti-oppression, deep understanding and solidarity is central to the change we want to see. We would also hope that participants would be open to being a part of continuing to work with NEON and collaborate with other participants on the programme.

How to choose what issue to campaign on and what kind of criteria you might use to inform this strategic decision
How to use power mapping to chart: How you build your base including:
We’ll explore the content as a whole group and in smaller groups through interactive activities, workshops and discussions. We have a team of experienced trainers and facilitators to help you unpack the learning and apply it to your own organisations and campaigns. This is also a great opportunity to connect with other organisers across this big city and to hear more about their organising challenges and experiences.
